How to Configure a Macintosh Browser to Operate with the CyberCash Macintosh Client
Introduction
The purpose of the document is to simplify the steps necessary to manually configure a Macintosh Internet Browser to work with Version 0.8.1 of the CyberCash Client. Information on configuring Macintosh browsers (Netscape Navigator, NCSA Mosaic, and EINET MacWeb) can be found in this document.

I. Browser Requirements
The following is required information about the CyberCash Client Wallet that is needed to configure a browser.
MIME Information
･ The Type should be 'application'.
･ The Subtype should be 'cybercash'.
The complete MIME type is: application/cybercash
File Type Information
The CyberCash Client recognizes 'Cash' as a Payment Request File Type. The CyberCash Client will ignore all of it's own 'other' Internal File Types, including 'Cybr' and 'CybP' .
II. Configuring Netscape Navigator
The version of Netscape refered to in this document is V1.1N
1) Launch Netscape.
2) Choose Preferences menu from the Options menu.
3) In the Popup menu of the Preferences dialog, select the Helper Applications menu item.
4) Click on the Newﾉ button.
This should bring up the "Create New Mime Type" dialog.
5) Enter the following information in the appropriate fields:
Mime Type: application
Mime Subtype: cybercash
6) Click OK.
7) Fill in the Extensions field with ".cyb"
8) Click on the Launch Application radio.
9) Click on the Browseﾉ button.
Use the dialog box to find the location of the CyberCash Client. Select it by clicking on the "Open" button. This action tells Netscape the location of the CyberCash Client on your hard disk.
Note: If you move the location of the CyberCash Client, you may have to repeat Step 9 again.
10) In the File Type popup menu, select 'Cash'.
IMPORTANT! Do not select any of the other File Types!
11) Click on the OK button.
12) Restart Netscape.
III. Configuring NCSA Mosaic
The version of NCSA Mosaic used in this document is 2.0.0a12
1) Launch NCSA Mosaic.
2) Chose Preferences from the Options menu.
3) Click on the Apps icon button.
4) Click on the Helper Applicationsﾉ button.
5) Click on the Add Document Typeﾉ button.
6) Type in application/cybercash and click OK.
7) Click on the Add Extensions button.
8) Type in .cyb into the text field and make sure application/cybercash is selected in the Mime type popup menu. Click OK.
9) Click on the application/cybercash item in the Document Type -> Application list box (the right scrolling field).
10) Click on Set Application.
11) Find the CyberCash Client application and click on Open.
12) Select a CyberCash File Type. The Macintosh Client will only work when the 'Cash' file type is selected. Click on 'Cash' icon and click on the Launch Automatically check box.
13) Now you need to restart NCSA Mosaic for the changes to take effect.
IV. Configuring MacWeb
The version of MacWeb refered to in this document is 1.00A3.2
1) Launch MacWeb.
2) Choose Helpers from the Edit Menu.
3) A dialog box should appear. If you haven't created a new MIME type yet, click on the Newﾉ button, otherwise select the previously created CyberCash MIME entry and click on Editﾉ
4) After you have clicked on Newﾉ or Editﾉ a dialog iwill appear on the screen. The next step is to enter the MIME information in the MIME Type text field.
5) Enter application/cybercash in the MIME Type text field.
6) Deselect the Don't Launch check box.
7) Click on the Select Applicationﾉ button. You need to find the CyberCash Client and click on the Open button.
8) When asked to select a File Type. Click on Cash. Click on OK.
9) Click OK again to get out of the Helpers dialog
